Description

Our client is looking to fill a position for a labor lawyer specializing in CNESST, located at their office on the South Shore. The company seeks someone oriented towards operational efficiency, with a high level of professional rigor, proven autonomy, and a strong sense of initiative.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in law recognized by the Quebec Ministry ;
  • Member of the Barreau du Québec ;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in labour law and occupational health and safety in Quebec ;
  • Experience as a practicing lawyer in Quebec ;
  • Recognized client-oriented skills ;
  • Strong abilities in negotiation, collaborative work, and building trusted interpersonal relationships ; 
  • Excellent mastery of French, both oral and written ;
  • Proficiency in English (an asset).

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support to the team's occupational health and safety advisors and clients in their health and safety at work and labor relations files ;
  • Assist occupational health and safety advisors and clients through various stages of health and safety at work or labor relations files, ensuring legal information is effectively communicated ;
  • Interpret various laws and regulations, primarily LSST, LATMP, LITAT, LNT, and the Labor Code ;
  • Interpret collective agreements ;
  • Interact with CNESST agents in handling complaints and/or claims ;
  • Prepare and draft various documents and procedures related to their expertise ;
  • Represent clients before the CNESST, the Administrative Labor Tribunal, or any other relevant authorities as required by clients ;
  • Negotiate cases for clients ;
  • Advocate, mediate, and/or facilitate conciliation in 35 to 40 cases annually ;
  • Handle high-volume cases ;
  • Conduct research assignments and provide legal opinions.
