Description
Our client, a religious entity located in Montreal, is looking to fill a position for a Community Assistant. The mission of this role is to provide support to elderly individuals to help maintain the quality of life for the nuns.

Responsibilities
- Provide presence and assistance to the nuns for their comfort and respond to their needs;
- Inform the nursing aide of any behaviors or signs requiring care, to notify the floor nurse;
- Accompany the sisters to medical appointments or other engagements as requested by the administrative assistant;
- Monitor the physical condition of the sisters and follow up with professionals as needed;
- Regularly visit ill nuns to ensure their well-being;
- In case of emergency, accompany the sisters to the hospital or meet them if they are taken by ambulance, and ensure they are fully taken care of;
- Organize visit schedules during a sister’s hospitalization;
- Assess and respond to material needs by purchasing necessary items;
- Confirm and notify appointments to the sisters and the nurse the day before;
- Complete admission request forms for the infirmary with the help of the sister and submit them to the responsible party;
- Organize the sisters' materials (cleaning, labeling, etc.);
- Regularly change and clean hearing aid batteries;
- Help organize birthdays, jubilees, festivities, and community meetings with the nursing aide and/or the coordinator;
- Read to the sisters upon request;
- Perform any other related tasks.
Requirements
- Hold a diploma in techniques for assisting the elderly or equivalent training;
- Hold a diploma in gerontology (an asset);
- Have two years of experience in customer service or elderly care;
- Excellent command of French, both spoken and written;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
- Possess a valid driver's license;
- Proficiency in English (an asset).
Conditions
- Mode: In-person ;
- Job Type: Permanent part-time position (30 hours per week over 5 days);
- Schedule: 9 AM to 4 PM with a 1-hour break, on call in the evenings and overnight every other weekend;
- Salary Range: $25/hour + potential bonus.
